When pulling up to Xscapenow by first thought was how happy I was to see a thriving independent, out of town escape room thriving. It was almost fully booked with 5 rooms running simultaneously all day.

My thoughts quickly turned to imagining an overstretched games master looking after multiple rooms, not watching games and delivering late generic hints about things we've already done. We've all seen it at usual suspects.

How wrong could I be. Our host was super friendly, enthusiastic and keen to talk all things escape rooms. The twice we asked for clues he immediately responded with a clue specific to our game. He must have anticipated the question and was ready to send - itbnakes me wonder what else he typed thatbwe didnt need. Unlike other gamesmasters we have had, he didn't overstep the mark and jump.in with clues, spoiling the 'ah ha moments' but the one time we had the right clue but just didn't press the button on the lock he jumped in to stop.us wasting time and spoiling our fun.

The game itself was huge, spread over multiple train carriages and featuring so.many styles of puzzle. Everything from real thinking puzzles to a really fun skill based puzzle easy enough so it won't ruin your game but tricky enough to make you feel good about yourself after succeeding.

The set was very immersive and you felt like you on a train rushing though the wild west the whole time.

Reviews persuaded us to make a detour on our trip to Birmingham and I am so glad we did. Next time we are in the area we will 100% be back to do more.

Another hit from Escapable. Whenever they announce a new room (which is excitingly frequently lately) there is a sense of anticipation and this one doesn't disapoint.

They have marketed this as their family friendly room with a family version and an adult version but to be honest for families it is more a beginner version and an experienced version. The adult version is identical for the first 60% of the room but has some extra challenges at the end of the room, our experienced 8 year old was capable of helping throughout. Any enthusiast, even with young kids, will be disappointed if they choose the family room

I'd say the puzzles are on the easier side but the adult version more than makes up for that in quantity, quality and variety. All puzzles are logical and fun, the setting is a new one for me and they do it very well (did we expect less).

Never have I been so disappointed with an escape room

For a start if you have played Devil's Playground then you are in for a nasty surprise. While it's advertised as a sequel and some nods to the original can be expected the set is a carbon copy (without a lick of paint), the flow of the game the same, some of the old puzzles are still written on the wall but no longer relevant and the first puzzle is identical with the same answer.

We got out with 15 minutes to spare but spent 10 minutes fighting broken tech on the last puzzle to be told "thats never happened before", well the same thing happened to me on the same tech on the original game 7 years ago so either I'm very unlucky, incapable of placing blocks or that's not quite true.

Puzzles had vital signposting missing and one were just subtly wrong, so subtle you weren't sure if you were missing something or the puzzle was wrong.

It was a busy corporate night and the host was very pleasant and professional but was clearly watching several rooms or just not watching as clues were generic or things we had already done.

I have fond memories of the original, not ground breaking but fun and felt a labour of love, this feels the opposite

A lovely set and nice change to do a room with no padlocks. It's a non-linear room with plenty of different puzzles to be done which should make it great for bugger teams.

Problem is, its a bit easy. We did it with 2 adults and an 8 year old and got out with 16 minutes to spare. An enjoyable game and some fun puzzles but no magic moments.

We also came across some broken tech and were told "this specific part doesn't usually break, it's a few other parts that often don't work"

Having just come out of Ram Raid this is so difficult to judge.

It is a stunning room, visually the most stunning room we have done - younfelt transported to another world. It felt the polar opposite to Ram Raid, instead of a mad dash puzzle hunt it felt like an immersive experience with the some puzzles along the journey.

Maybe our brains were tired but we definitely struggled with the odd logic leap and found one bit of 'broken' tech (maybe it was us that was broken). It didn't detract from an excellent room and we would still apply recommend (after Ram Raid which is a family favourite now)

I really shouldn't rate this as highly as I do, it's so hard to compare escape rooms and I often wonder whether I should be scoring on gameplay, immersion, theme/decor, hosting or more.

As soon as you enter the room you feel like you're in a bank. It's not other worldly exciting but impressively realistic. From that point onwards there are a lot of things that break immersion, notes from the gamemaster telling you to be careful not to break things, clues that are clearly puzzles and not in theme. And that should make it not a top tier escape room......

But it doesn't. It's a puzzle lovers dream. You know you are in a game and it feels like it. Puzzles are being thrown at you left right and centre, every type of puzzle you can imagine is included. A live scoreboard keeps the adrenaline running and when you think you are getting near the end you realise it's really only the start. The puzzles are non linear so groups can split but there are plenty of puzzles that need more than one person and constant communication is key. There is so much detail that you miss at first glance but all puzzles are so well signposted and no need for logic leaps, we needed 2 clues but they were both us being silly rather than a confusing puzzle.

We loved it from start to finish and my son (7 and on his 18th room) hasn't stopped talking about it since. It has instantly gone into out top 3 of over 25 rooms (number 1 for our son)

What a room, so much fun!
A mix of physical puzzles and more traditional escape room puzzles  - some we have never seen before. Fantastic signposting throughout and no logic leaps needed. Great use of space.
I can guarantee you will be smiling from start to finish. So much so I almost forgot how great the room was as I was focused on how fun it was.

Such a fun room. The sort that leaves you smiling for the rest of the day.
A wide variety of puzzles that don't follow too linear a pattern. You can split up and tackle different challenges but communication is key. Theming is immersive.

Wow, what a game, definitely in my top 3 games played so far.
The theme is not an obvious one for a great set but you were instantly immersed into the past without it being tacky.
Puzzles were everywhere as you walked through the door allowing everyone to split up but also great opportunity for team work.
For those that make it to the end you are in for a huge treat #nospoilers

I tried so hard to love this game, it's well reviewed so I am sure we're the problem somewhere here but as a team that have only done around 20 escape rooms, this one just didn't gel with us.

The good things
- puzzles were logical and varied
- the theming was good.
- friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere

The things we struggled with
- Have to leave the room and walk downstairs to the second part, takes away that magical moment where the set opens and you discover a new room you weren't expecting.
- The hosting style never gelled with us and was never discussed beforehand. We felt like we wasted time as the briefing wasn't clear to us and we're allowed to go down wrong paths when a simply steer would have allowed us to enjoy more of the game.
- the end game seemed pointless. I love the idea (and have seen it before) of 'bonus tasks' after the main objective is done, it's great as you get to enjoy the full hour but there is normally a scoring element to it, this felt like a way to fill the time and the fact the loot wasn't tallied for a score at the end felt like an anti climax.

Maybe we had an off day, I would definitely give the company a try again when next in Newcastle. While not a bad game it didn't quite work for us this time.

Beautiful sets and fantastic theatrical sets with a stunning finish.

Let down by a one or two poor puzzles.

Still an overall positive experience and will definitely be back for more

poor hosting

Fun in parts but badly hosted. Lots of similar locks and trying the same lock in sever code and darkness seems to be how they make it difficult

An OK game, very tired and badly maintained.

Fun in parts with some clever puzzles

An opportunity to be a great game let down by poor maintenance and overuse

Less than 3 days after doing Santa Paws we were back for more, we just can't stay away from Beverley Breakout.

A unique take on a room and a must for puzzle lovers. The side quests and bonus puzzles were a great change to the normal room and something we thoroughly enjoyed.

Wow, what a room. Great fun and smiling from start to finish. Some truly unique puzzles that I haven't seen before or since

Fran as always, was an excellent host. My 7 year old still talks about the fact she told us over the clue system to listen to him as he was right 😀

We did the 60 minute version.

A run room with clever puzzles. Theming isn't as extravagant as some but what you get are great puzzles with a fantastic host.

The added element of Jewel hunting and almost a side quest to the main game is a great feature. Wish we did the 100 minute version.

A journey from bedroom to chocolate factory. Visually beautiful, a great variety of puzzles and family friendly.

We went with our 6 year old who loved it and was a real help throughout.

Another classic from Enigma, we will be back soon to do Impact

Not sure I have ever been in a room with so many puzzles. Observation skills are key.

To be honest there was too much to do as a team of 2 but the host was brilliant and dragged us through to the end. Throwing the hints at us that were the perfect level to get us through but not ruin the aha moments.

Would loved to have spent more time in there, would have happily paid a bit more for an extra 15 (or maybe even 30) minutes

The room more to it that meets the eyes.

The first room we took our then 6 year old to and the first room we did away from the big corporate chains.

To say we were blown away and hooked is an understatement.

Such a beautiful room with some great puzzles that we still haven't seen again since. I can't see how anyone could leave this room and not have fun, it is the yard stick we use to compare all future games.

The best game of a very good bunch at Beverley Breakout.

The usually brilliant puzzles you expect, you can tell the owner is an enthusiast, but with stunning visuals beyond the other rooms.

Fran is the nicest host you will come across in Yorkshire, we can't wait till she releases more games to be back soon.

All I can say is wow, what a game. Definitely the best game we have ever played.

A beautiful, immersive and high tech room.

Relies on cooperation between teammates almost no puzzle can be done by one person. Love the fact that teams of 2 get an extra 15 minutes as well.

Hosts were lovely and very accommodating when we turned up 1.5 hours late due to a flat tire on the M62
