Great game, though not as good as Mutiny, the other game we've played at Tulleys.
Our GM was Cale. He was EXCELLENT. Clues were perfectly timed when needed, but not too frequent as to make the game easy. Excellent GMing all round.
The puzzles themselves aren't hard, but there are lots of them.
All around, thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
Amazing, expansive room, with a great split start and some really amazing surprises. Quite hard for a team of two, we overran but they let us keep going as we had said we wanted to see the whole game.
This experience was elevated by our GM. Great intro and experience in room relaying to our team name. Attention to detail. Funny comments back and forth too.
The room is clever and fun. The spell system is playful and it was enjoyable to play throughout. There is still a reliance on basic lock mechanics’s which is a shame. We have seen similar done in Europe and probably stands out more than this. Overall still a very good experience.
We've been waiting to do Tulleys for years and it definitely lived up to all the hype. Absolutely brilliant room with fabulous decor and great puzzles. We don't usually play as a six anymore and while it gave us more puzzle solving power at times it was a little bit cramped. That said, other than the start there wasn't many puzzles that one or another of us missed out on. Definitely the best executed "wow" moment of its type that I've experienced in other rooms.
I really enjoyed the game and the set was awesome.
Our 4th trip to tulleys and we were so excited to finally get to play Spellcraft! Having previously played outfitters, mutiny and dodge we had an idea of the kind of speed we would need to move at to have any chance of escape and we were not wrong!
A beautifully built game with complete immersion and some fantastic puzzles! It came right down to the death but we managed to escape with 10 seconds left on the clock after a dramatic climax to the game!
Definitely worth the trip if you haven’t been to tulleys as of yet just make sure you take your running shoes!!
What a fabulous room. It incorporated so many different elements, puzzle types, and fun twists. Definitely a step up in difficulty from mutiny and outfitters but still manageable. One piece of technology was a little dodgy but with a little help from the excellent GM we got it sorted without losing any immersion. I won't say too much because I don't want to spoil it, but you won't regret this adventure!
Just beautiful. I feel like I don’t want to add any more because I don’t want to spoil anything at all in any way.
Take more than two if you can! There’s a lot to do, but it’s unmissable. Ed was a great host.
Another large multiroom experience from Tulleys. We had a more experienced and enthusiastic GM than past experiences with them which helped the enjoyment too. For a newer room some of the puzzles felt a little dated but an action packed 60 minutes with plenty of unique elements
There's not a lot I can write on this one without giving too much away so I'll keep it short.
Magical in so many ways, I love the "competitive" feeling I had in this one and I loved the world we explored.
Themeing as always with Tulleys games was fabulous and we loved this game.
This is a great room. Really quirky and lots of "ooo" moments. Lots of back and forth and exploring.
The only thing I didnt enjoy was the taste puzzle as we all found it really hard to taste what we are supposed to taste to complete the puzzle, the same as some of Tulley other rooms that have sniff tests which again are very hard to do. I really wish they wouldnt include these sort of puzzles in the rooms. But otherwise it was all good and quite a wide variety of puzzles..
Look forward to the next room they open!
So much to do, some really unique puzzles and room elements, including a good couple of stand-out 'wow' moments. Heard an awful lot about SpellCraft from many many sources, and it certainly lived up to its reputation.
Our 2nd room at Tulleys. Very colourful and clever puzzles. But we found it quite stressful for some reason!! Think that was more us as a team than representative of the room.
It's brilliant - great variety of puzzles and super immersive and beautifully-presented. We apparently needed another 10-15 mins. There's only a timer visible in the first room which is frustrating as you can't go back
Great escape room with some really clever technology unique to any other room I've seen before.
Wow! What a stunning setting and an incredible experience. This game has a huge floor plan and so much clever tech that we lost track of where we were at times.
It is stuffed full of puzzles and the challenging aspect of this game is the sheer quantity of how much there is to get through.
One of the rooms literally made me jump up and down with joy: what a gorgeous game.
What a beautiful room!
This game is set across a large space and pitches your team against each other on a couple of light hearted occasions.
The puzzles were nice with a good level of challenge at times.
Our host was lovely, she really set the scene and made us all at ease from the very start.
This is a great game for families as I'm sure kids would be in awe at the magic and mystery in this game.
It's Tulleys so obviously the set was absolutely amazing. This was actually my least favourite of their rooms from a puzzle perspective though - not particularly original and one I'd label as tedious. But still very enjoyable.
Aazing set (as you'd expect from Tulley's), but not their strongest from a puzzle stand point. Love a magic theme though, lost a lot of time waving a wand about.
The sets are amazing! You feel as if you are entering a whole other, magical world. There is quite a lot to solve, and some puzzles were on the tricky side for our, fairly inexperienced, team, but this didn't detract from the sheer enjoyment of the whole experience. Highly recommended!
Stunning room design but with some broken bits of tech (our gm had to pop in at one point as something didn't open that should have and had to give us an answer to another puzzle as the puzzle mechanics weren't working as they should).
We knew it would be a challenge as 2 players, but even with prompts from our gm (we said we didn't care how many hints so long as we made it through) we were only able to make it 75% of the way through.
Our GM somewhat reassured us (if that's the right phrase) that no team of 2 has ever completed Spellcraft, so do be aware of that even if you're an experienced team of 2!
Spellcraft has the feel of a kiddie/family friendly room, but don't be fooled. There's a whole lot going on, and in true Tulley's style, each room feels like a Tardis as it unfolds. We were a team of two, so we knew it would be tough - but we were definitely disadvantaged by not having more bodies in the room working on puzzles simultaneously where possible.
Some of the puzzles were quite abstract and perhaps a bit random - which made me wonder how many teams find and get through them by themselves without clues. Our GM did a good job of chivvying us along to try to stop us falling too far behind - but he did have to shortcut us around a few bits of broken tech. Overall a lot of fun, with great set design, but quite a lot to take on for a small team!
Everything about this room was just so cool! One element in particular really took me by surprise and is one of my all time escape room highlights. All the puzzles were really fitting with the theme and it truely felt like an adventure. Our host Michelle was superb and even showed us the behind the scenes control room afterwards! Fascinating to play and then see how it all works.
Looking at other reviews, I seem to be in the minority here. No one can deny that this room is absolutely stunning. It's clear to see where the money has been spent. But unfortunately that's the end of my positive points. Our team is very experienced, having played hundreds of games, and just felt like this was another installment of Tullys money-grabbing empire. After failing other rooms here, we were a little hesitant to return. But after being told that spellcraft was a family friendly game, we thought it couldn't be that difficult right?
I won't go into details, but overall, signposting was awful, most puzzles felt illogical or simply impossible without help, which wouldn't be so bad if we actually got help. We asked for help on multiple occasions and received nothing back. At one point someone even asked how to get out to go to the toilet, and heard nothing back. We were then told about 10 minutes later after repeated asking, that we were in a part of the game that we couldn't leave from, which begs the question, what if there was an emergency?!?! Not to mention the numerous broken props and puzzles (par for the course with Tullys rooms.
After a frustrating experience, and a deflating ending from a host with no enthusiasm or personality, we all agreed this was the last straw for this place. We were once again offered 50% to come back, but why would I travel all that way again? Next time we're in the area, we will try somewhere else.
Overall... Amazing production quality, but that's about it.
This adventure excels on transitions and keeping you progressing through the narrative, but there was a couple of points where I didn't "get" the relevance of the area to the story, but it didn't detract from the gameplay, it was just one of those "I wonder what that was" ponderings I had afterwards.
Amazingly beautiful adventure, its a stunning build.
Another beautiful addition to the Tulley's portfolio with some cool props and a fun back story. As is par for the course with us as a pair, we failed to finish in the hour and no doubt will return in a couple of years to see how the story ends after they open their next room...
Addendum: yes we went back. Finished it this time, and had just as much fun this time around 🙂
This is another awesome game by Tulleys. It follows the excellent theming and design of all the other games and applies it to another huge space for you to explore. The puzzles were generally well designed and fun (some could've used better signposting at times) and I really liked how well the space was used. The beginning of the game was really cool, along with a great mechanic halfway through. One room felt like all the puzzles were slightly broken in some way but kind of worked eventually and the finale felt unneccesary but I guess in keeping with the story. However, our game flowed really well and the GMs Edward and Tyler added prompts when we were struggling or missing something obvious. All round not to be missed!!

Spellcraft is the fifth of Tulley’s full-size escape games, and shares much with the first four: it’s huge and impressive and slick, and packed with enough puzzles that even experienced teams will have to scramble to complete it in time. But while the house style and quality remains a constant, the company continues to try new things with each new game.
The first surprise was to find that we’d be divided into two groups, working for good or evil respectively. An escape room is a fundamentally c...
However, it was unlike any magic room I’ve done before, and has truly earned its place at the top of many lists. Firstly, you can tell from the waiting area that the set and story are going to be completely different from any other magic room. There are no “wizard school” or 4 “magical houses” that happen to be primary colours…
