I am so torn writing this review because I can see why people would rate La Taberna so highly. Unfortunately, our experience wasn't so great, but that is in no way because of the construction of game itself (yes, it looks absolutely stunning) nor our 2 amazing gamemasters.
When we played, Spain was having a heatwave, temperatures of 41 degrees outside. The only area inside of the building that we encountered was in the initial tavern itself. As we exited the tavern, the temperature inside absolutely soared. The rest of the game was like playing in a sauna. I actually blacked out part way through the game. The gamemasters provided bottled water and a small hand fan at the half way point but with another hour of game play to go they were drops in the ocean. Considering that this is the #1 rated game in Spain, the only thing we'll be remembering about this game was the intense heat.
So, the good bits. The game is beautifully constructed with a high attention to detail throughout. The puzzles and tasks are varied and not overly difficult, which is important considering the length of the game.
As I mentioned above, our 2 gamemasters were an absolute delight to interact with and did an excellent job telling the story and keeping us well paced - thank you Albert & Dante!
The special effects throughout the game are exciting and really add to the immersive atmosphere.
So, a review of 2 halves and I'm sure anyone who plays outside of summer would have a wonderful experience. But just leaving my little warning to anyone thinking of playing over the summer to be prepared (It's not just me, there's a string of Google reviews from the last few weeks of other who couldn't enjoy the game because they were also busy being hot human soup for 2 hours).

If you’re in Barcelona and have time for only one escape room it has to be this one.
The sets are expensive, the GM’s are fantastic and act brilliantly throughout and the whole experience is completely immersive in every sense. It was a truly beautiful game that also had some really unique puzzles utilising the set excellently.
It’s one of the only rooms I could replay multiple times because it is so much more than just an ER.

A bit different from other rooms we have played with more focus on the story and the experience than a traditional escape room. There were still some great puzzles though. The set was huge, intricate and beautiful. Lots of climbing and crawling involved which I always find exciting.

This was an absolutely mind-blowing experience—start to finish, my jaw was on the floor. The hosting was phenomenal, making us feel like we had stepped straight into a movie, and that’s no exaggeration. Every stage had me thinking, how are they going to top that?—but somehow, they did. And then came the finale… just wow.
The entire game was out of this world. Every aspect was so cleverly designed, and the fact that we didn’t open a single padlock didn’t matter in the slightest. It was pure immersion from beginning to end.
If you’re in Barcelona, you have to make time for this room—I can’t imagine anyone walking away disappointed!

Absolutely lost for words. Built with love, skill and passion! Gone right into my top 5 in 230 ER’s. This was our second trip to Barcelona to play and we finally rented a car to reach the rooms further away and i’m so pleased we did. No spoilers but I really didn’t know what to expect with this room and it was the gift that kept on giving!

Wonderful story-driven, live hosted with an epic set and some thrilling physical puzzles. Everything is put together with a love of love, it’s funny and on theme with a great host and great props.

A friend wrote to me saying there was a new room near Barcelona that they had test played and he thinks booking numbers are very likely to go through the roof in the near future. That’s why we should come as soon as possible to play it. Another experienced enthusiast also spoke of TERPECA Top 10 material in connection with this adventure. Even though I’m always a bit skeptical about escape games being hyped so early on, and I try to keep my expectations low, the three of us set out to play this and four other interesting rooms in Barcelona and the surrounding area. Anyone who knows me will probably ask themselves, “What’s going on? Only five rooms in one weekend in Barcelona?” But this was actually a connoisseur tour.
„The City“ in Terrassa (approx. 30 km northwest of Barcelona) is a kind of joint venture between Elements Escape Room and Vortex Escape Room (Apophis). With “Academia de cocina” (Megachef) and “Estudio de televisión” (La Nevera Show), there are two old friends from Experiencity (La Orden, Colors, Terror Stories…), which can also be played in other cities. However, we are here for a different reason.
La Taberna (The Tavern), is a one hundred and twenty minute immersive pirate adventure that, as the name suggests, begins in a tavern. The first location is very interactive and humorous. There we meet a character (very good acting from everyone involved in this game) from whom we want to find out certain information or need items. Of course we don’t get this for free. Everything has its price! I don’t want to reveal much more at this point. In any case, we laughed a lot (I learned that Giulia can tap dance) and immediately immersed ourselves in an exciting adventure with a great plot, during which we were often surprised and left with our mouths open.
