This game was fun with some room for improvement. The lack of signposting which padlocks might link to which clue was a little frustrating but as it’s a smallish room not too bad. There was one puzzle that related to a star map that I didn’t enjoy as to me the clues didn’t quite match the end result and it was difficult to see what you were looking for. The room had some fun touches mainly at the end. The website wasn’t great as you had to go all the way to booking to see how many people could do the room and I didn’t realise this was a spooky themed room until we got there so it would be nice to have a bit more clear info on the site.

We’ve talked through every step and every puzzle of this game at least three times and we can’t get over it. So fun, so stressful at times, so cool. You gotta do it.

This room was so fun. Quite a big space but apparently the smallest of their rooms, plenty to do but in a satisfyingly linear way. Some surprises. Overall so fun!

This room was really fun. There was plenty to do with the added task of looking for cash, and all of the puzzles made sense. The room even smelled good! I would definitely recommend! The only thing that I didn’t love was that some puzzles were attemptable before you had all of the info, and we had to check in with the host about whether we’d got something wrong or whether we just couldn’t do that puzzle yet - but this wasn’t a big issue especially in a larger group where we could swap jobs. I think it would also be nice to have the chance to look for any cash you haven’t found if you finish early. Overall really fun and lots of nice touches!

This room was fun, the set was a little bare but there were nice touches. We did the room as a group of 6 and this affected the pacing a little, sometimes we all had things to do and sometimes we were all stuck at a similar point. There’s a fair amount to do in this room and some of the puzzles are tricky, less in terms of the complexity of what you’re being asked to do and more in terms of the level of detail necessary (or not). We enjoyed the room and the host was very nice.

Overall we liked this room, but there was one puzzle that really stumped us - we ended up using a clue, figured out the rest of the answer and then at the end of the room asked for an explanation - the host then had to give us a written explanation to properly explain. The whole thing kinda threw off the experience but I think could easily be adjusted to make it clearer to players! The set was really cool, there were some good puzzles that we enjoyed working through too.  I think this room would be tough for a two player team as there some time consuming things (one that just required a lot of trial and error) that I think might be a bit frustrating with a smaller team? I think this is a good room but it could be improved a little. It was fun though!

We really enjoyed this room! The set was great, and we enjoyed the puzzles. It was a good one to play with a bigger team as we were able to all stay busy, it would have taken a lot longer with just two of us as there was a decent amount to do. There were fun touches that made us react and made the room feel more exciting. Good stuff!

plain
We may have just been very bad at this room, but it took us forever to get started. There were some basic things that could have been better signposted or linked up to help the players - we spent a lot of time filling in every padlock so something to indicate where a code might go would be quite welcome. I don't really enjoy the tactic of making a room feel longer by making you guess where to put the codes. The room was quite plain and the inclusion of a really broken violin felt a bit sad? The puzzles themselves were okay and we got through them quite quickly but we wasted loads of time in this room so there was quite a lot of standing around (maybe that was just us!). Overall an okay room but could easily be improved with a bit of extra care. Host was really nice.

We loved this room. We went a couple of minutes over the hour mark, but did solve all the puzzles. This room captured some of the initial excitement I felt playing my first ever room, as every reveal or step got a reaction from me. The hosting was great and they answered our questions and spent time chatting with us after the room. There were elements where we may have made better progress with a bigger team but there were no real drawbacks to playing as a two. I saw a review that said that the lighting wasn't great, and while it was overall quite dark, the lighting was also sometimes helpful in directing your attention and made thematic sense. We have discussed this room step by step three times since playing and probably won't stop any time soon! Defo recommend!

We just ran out of time on this room while we were finishing the final puzzle - and I’m disappointed that we didn’t get out but not surprised. I think this room is difficult for a small team due to the nature of some of the puzzles (lots of info in different places e.g) but, to echo the other review, there is not enough for a big team to do at once.

The linear puzzles slow you down considerably and there’s no searching or real engagement with much in the room - by this I mean a lot if not all of these puzzles could be in a book or exit game for example.

There was one puzzle that really lacked care or clarity in directing the player and we did it about three times getting very different answers - and it was so long! It’s okay having a tricky or even a bit ambiguous puzzle if it’s not super time consuming to reset and try again 🫣

I think there’s potential for this room to be fun but the delivery was so disappointing including details like a room with super low light and yet detailed puzzles to complete in that area.

Hopefully they’ll troubleshoot this room and improve it over time but for now I would say it’s not worth the money 😕

Staff were super nice, though!

This room was so fun! The aim is to solve as many puzzles as possible in the hour - and puzzles varied in length, complexity, and style so there was always so much to do. You don’t have the chance to get bored or frustrated with puzzles as there are literally so many you can just switch your focus. This would be a great room to do with a big team and might be a good introductory room. Defo worth visiting!

Oh man. This room didn’t work - lots of things were broken or a bit off, or didn’t make sense, and when we left the host was someone different to who had let us in (fine) and was like ‘wow you did that in 16mins!’ But we didn’t - it was at least 40 minutes - and then when we said that it hadn’t been 16 mins he was like ‘how long has it been?’ But that’s his job to know? We were so confused. This room was only okay because we laughed our way through the chaos - do not bother with this one!

This room is probably designed more for families with children but we had fun with these puzzles. It’s a very small room (kind of a storeroom) with a few puzzles all linked to items that are actually in the armouries so you can go around and find them after you’ve left the room. We had some technical issues with sensors but overall a fun room and a cool tie in to the armouries

We had a good time in this room! There was lots to do; some of it we made good progress on and some bits took a bit of searching/extra thinking. We had a really good time but I think one box that had two padlocks on only had one of the padlocks attached so we may have had an unfair advantage 😅 hosts were super nice and we’re happy to talk to us after the room about the details - we also saw a cat which was the highlight

This room was good for two or three players, I think bigger groups would struggle to find enough for everyone to do. There was one clue we were given without asking but that we also wouldn’t have really known exactly what to do without the clue so this could have been better incorporated into the info already in the room. The wear and tear of the room sometimes helped or hindered searching/puzzle solving. Quite fun though!

This is a fun room with some great hosting (our host committed to it!) - I think we managed to stress ourselves out quite a lot and our puzzle solving suffered 😅 it’s worth just getting into the theme and having fun with this one!

This was a nice room - well themed and with a range of puzzles. Some of our team hadn’t played an ER before but are big video game players so had no problem with the puzzle solving elements. There was one puzzle that seemed to require long arms but maybe we missed something to make it easier? Overall good fun!

This was a fun game with an impressive set. Each puzzle took a bit of time to figure out making it feel rewarding when we solved things. There were some cool tech elements. At one point we had to manually help something out that should have been automatic, but the gm radioed us to let us know that. I think this room will be a hit with people who’ve played quite a few before and are happy to jump right into puzzles without too much direction. Great fun.

This room was great fun and the host did a good job of getting us amped up before we entered. We enjoy a scary room but I would say that for me personally the anticipation/potential scare is more fun than rooms where it’s a more obvious scare. Sometimes it feels like you are acting scared so that the host feels like they’re doing a good job, when what you really want is to focus on the puzzles 😂 there were some fun things to interact with and a good use of space, we had a great time and felt like we’d used a lot of energy by the end!

This room is a lot for a 2 player team. We got out with under 5 mins left and there was a point I thought we were going to overrun! The room looked great and smelled really nice (they told us they have plugins for all the rooms that are linked to the themes) so that was a great touch. We lost quite a bit of time over some of the puzzles but I think a bigger team may have helped - maybe we were just running slow that day! Nicely themed with lots to do, could have been a bit more linear if they wanted to make it easier?

Murder motel did a great job of hiding a lot of puzzles in not a lot of places.

It had a reasonably linear flow that suited our team of two and the puzzles were suitably themed to keep the room’s unsettling feeling going even while solving puzzles.

We had a good time in this room. It was nice to do a room without (m)any padlocks. We were ahead of time for a lot of this game, but got a little stumped by something simple 😅 we were reassured at the end that this was common for players though. There was one element we asked about at the end as we had solved a puzzle but technically could have found another clue towards this. The host was great and spent time discussing with us afterwards. Lots of props and nice set elements.

This room felt quite kid-centred - for example the art style and some of the interactive puzzles. That said this room kept us nice and busy with lots to find and try out. We took some friends who hadn’t been to an escape room before and while we all enjoyed it I don’t think it would be my preferred introduction to escaping in general. The team were very friendly and it was a well-thought out room. It just wasn’t  our favourite personally.

Our main complaint was that this room was literally too dark - our torches weren’t great and we spent a lot of time peering at things 😅 there were some great touches, we enjoyed being given outfits at the start, and the use of the space. We were a little unsure of some of the logic for the puzzles and struggled with the lack of visibility (for example if something happened elsewhere in the room). It was fun but there was room for improvement.

This was my first ever escape room so it has a special place in my memory just because of that. There were some ups and downs to this room, looking back. The first puzzle had a technical problem for us so we were stood around for quite a while! I enjoyed searching for clues and going from very tentative to bravely exploring the space. There were some clues from a previous puzzle still in the room, but they had simplified the puzzle so we got a little distracted trying to use clues we didn’t need for a while. With some small adjustments this room could have been better. This room was really fun and I immediately came out and booked another room so definitely a good start.

This game started with a big fear factor, which was also fun, and for us a little doggy came in the room (a highlight!). There was a good use of space and some puzzles that we had to think quite hard about. There was a fun fear factor where we tried to stay together as much as possible because we weren’t sure what the space would hold. Overall good fun.

This was a fun room, our main complaint was that it felt like we were given a bit too much information at the start. There weren’t loads of tactile interactive elements so this room was less about searching and props than it was about logic and puzzling.

We played this with my mum, who wasn’t feeling very confident at the start but by the end came out thrilled. We really enjoyed the range of puzzles and the different tools/props to use in the room. There was one puzzle we thought we’d used the right logic for but ended up just solving by searching that we were a little unsure of at the end, but other than that a really good room!

We really enjoyed all of the Lockup games, and we love Hovis. This room worked really well with 2 people as we were able to move around a bit easier at the start. We were quite slow with the first puzzle but then made nice progress with the rest, following the game logic. The set was fun for this room, only improvement would be some sea shanties playing 😂

This was our first game at Lockup and we really enjoyed it. Joe went straight for the chemistry elements. There were some fun puzzles that needed communication, and a bit of testing things out. We got to the ‘hard mode’ puzzle at the end which was a bonus.

The hosts at cryptology are great and they always make time to discuss the room with us afterwards. We enjoyed this room a lot, but I would say slightly less than their other two rooms (Afterlife and First Contact). The set dressing felt a little less immersive and there was a bit that had a lot of recorded noise which got a little overwhelming (but maybe we were just taking too long 😅). Overall good fun with plenty to do.

We loved this game. We’ve done a few similar themed games now but this one still stands out for its clever use of space, range of puzzles, and a padlock we’d not seen before. As always the hosting at cryptology is great, and the room was just really good fun with lots to replay in our heads when we left.

This game needs/benefits from a larger group as there are lots of puzzles, information, and props to interact with throughout. There are some fun and immersive touches that help you feel like you’re on a space adventure and the team at Cryptology are super nice. We chose the First Contact ending and I think finished with about 5 minutes left (it may have been less). A well paced room with lots to discuss afterwards!

The team at Looking Glass were all super nice and friendly. We did this room first, and then played Maryweather and It Came From the Attic. This room felt nice and linear, the puzzles flowed well and the only thing we got slowed down by was just us not looking in the right places at the right time - I think with a bigger team we might have sped through but this was really fun. I enjoyed the set dressing and the ambient cricket noises too!
