The Pick of Destiny

We thoroughly enjoyed playing this game and 100% recommend it!! Wanted to give a full write up for this one as it certainly deserves a shout-out! So here goes... 

The room is full of vibrant carnival-themed decor and has a lovely handmade charm, with plenty of attention to detail. It’s clear a lot of thought has gone into how players move through the space, and there are some really nice touches, including a nod to the local area’s history. Visually, the room feels fully on theme and immersive. The only thing we felt could elevate it even more would be a bit of added audio to bring the atmosphere to life even more.

Playing as a team of 2 is certainly doable and we never felt rushed but were definitely kept busy throughout. The difficulty level felt fair, with a good mix of linear moments and sections where we could divide and conquer. It would work well for smaller or larger groups too; and it’s family friendly! There was a great balance between more traditional thinking puzzles and fun, physical tasks. One part in particular was really fun to do (you’ll want at least one person in your team who’s up for a physical challenge). The signposting throughout the room was subtle but effective, helping keep us on track without being too obvious. There are some clever and satisfying moments in there that make it a very good room.

Our game master, who also happens to be the owner, was absolutely brilliant. She gave us a warm welcome, clearly cared about the player experience, and was attentive throughout. We only needed one clue, which was timed perfectly. She is an enthusiast herself, and it shows in how the room has been built and how the whole experience is run. Feedback was both welcomed and encouraged, which is always great to see in a newer venue.

The venue itself was easy to find and felt welcoming. There’s parking nearby in a public car park. Just be aware that there’s no step-free access as the room is located up one flight of stairs.

Overall, we definitely recommend!! Whether you’re local or fancy a bit of a road trip, this one is well worth checking out. Can't wait to see what Clue Collectors come up with next.

It is with such a heavy heart that I've had to give this room a less than Excellent rating. The set was fantastic and the puzzles were mostly logical and quite varied in difficulty and type (eg, tactile puzzles, logic puzzles, math puzzles, fine and seek puzzles etc). However, the room is clearly built for larger teams. We were told at the end of the experience that we did well getting as far through as we did in the 60 mins as "teams of 2 usually don't even make it past the half way mark". A fact given to us after our game, despite us asking if it was suitable for two before booking.

As a team of two enthusiasts, we play alot of rooms "meant for bigger teams" which, when given the knowledge beforehand, we approach in a very different way. It's such a shame that we were not able to tackle this room in the way we would have wanted to, or given the choice to bring our wider team. 

In addition, we were quite clear with our games master that we were happy for clues throughout and would like to be prompted if we are falling behind time too. We received our first prompt 35mins into the game. This is unfortunately rather poor hosting for such a busy room.

That being said, the room itself was well themed and took you on a nice journey. There were only a couple of puzzles that were not 100% logical, but this did not take away from the overall experience. 

Recommended for larger groups who like active puzzles. 

If you are a fan of scary - you have to make sure Mark is your games master! We took our mothers/north in laws and little bro to this room and it did not disappoint!! Fab experience with the right amount of psychological terror and jump scares to get all of us fearing for our lives!! Highly recommend! 

This room is packed full - with puzzles galore!! Great theme and attention to detail, with some unique puzzles. Certainly a really good challenge for bigger groups and/or enthusiasts! 

For us, the only reason this wasn't a 5 star room is because our experience was slightly hindered by the live actor element. 

For those that like a bit of banter and interaction, this element is a fabulous addition and our game's live actor was a pleasure to converse with; but unfortunately, we (personally) just do not like in-room interaction as a continuous part of the game play. 

Other than that, an absolute hoot of a room and we'd definitely recommend making the trip!

This is a good room for less experienced puzzlers as there is a lot of emphasis on story rather than being jam packed with puzzles. That's not to say that the room wasn't enjoyable because it certainly was! Some nice moments and a good mix of puzzles! 

This was a really great escape room - certainly one for enthusiasts who love a traditional ER! Would recommend!

Another excellent instalment from the XscapeNow Team!!

We are usually a bit dubious about Christmas rooms, as they can often feel thrown together with not a lot of thought put into the puzzles or the story. But fortunately, this room does not fall into that category!!

With a fabulous mix of puzzles to suit every type of 'escaper', this room kept us busy throughout! The puzzles were well thought out and cleverly executed, allowing for a very good flow to the room. We would definitely recommend this room for larger groups of mixed ages or smaller groups of enthusiasts, as there is a lot to do and certainly something for everybody.

We usually play as a team of two but this time we were joined by our fellow escape enthusiast to tackle this highly rated rising star room!! And thank goodness we had an extra pair of hands and the additional brainpower. 

This room was FABULOUS. From entering the room all the way up to its conclusion, the love and care given to its concept was apparent. We enjoyed everything from start to finish!

We must admit, we don't usually gel well with the magic theme in escape rooms but we were far more than pleasantly surprised at how good this room actually was!! This room was so immersive that it's difficult not to get truly lost in the story and the puzzles! 

We have one word for this room... BRAVO 👏🏾 

Thanks for having us, we can't wait for the next adventure! 

Another absolute HIT!! Well done Case Closed! We drove 4.5 hours just to play this room (as we loved Max Sinclair so much) and we were not disappointed! Theming, set, hosting, story, EVERYTHING was spot on! Don't walk, run to Case Closed now!
