PuzzleParrot expert reviewed Gangs of Manhattan Vol 2: Golden Dragon by Audio Escape:
Joyless and occasionally racist (did we really need a character to sneer that Chinese food is disgusting and that he'd rather have a pizza any day?)
PuzzleParrot expert reviewed Gangs of Manhattan Vol 1: Deadly Game by Audio Escape:
All the ingredients to make something fun, yet somehow joyless and flat
egnor expert reviewed Gangs of Manhattan Vol 1: Deadly Game by Audio Escape:
Has some good aspects, like an inventive GM and a nice audio track, but the puzzles are in an awkward middle ground between "realistic" and "escape room logic", and the story felt a little flat.
Wei-Hwa Huang expert reviewed The Ghost House: The Speaking Picture by Audio Escape:
Played: 2020-10-19 Team size: 3 Outcome: Successful escape!
The puzzles were less, um, puzzly and a bit more open-ended, which might be good for immersion but not so great for feeling like you're making progress. We ended up skipping certain parts unintentionally because of an intuitive feel for where the story was going ... and the story didn't even quite end on a clean note. The imagery is very professional and the host does a fine job with what they have.
