The thing that surprised me the most is the low number different puzzles, it was more of a game of exploration and when finding a secret getting this nice feeling. Found all but the very last secret, before the story hinted at them. So cant recommend searching to much. But the game is a good experience. A bit expensive for the time it took, but then again it do cost money to produce a game like this.

I began expecting a typical mass market game, I ended delighted to have been wrong.

Impressive value and discovery, absolutely a standout in the general market for such games. Major room for improvement in terms of preventing sequence breaks and meta structure, but I still enjoyed the flow.

For months hard to acquire outside the US thanks to an exclusive distribution deal with Target, Box One is finally available from various suppliers in other countries too, though generally at an eyebrow-raising cost. The glossy box comes with the equally glossy imprimatur of celebrity puzzle fan Neil Patrick Harris, who also features prominently in the content. It is presented as a 'game for one' and is well-suited to solo play, though if you prefer to play with others there's absolutely no reas...

Everything about BoxONE is top quality, and it was truly a delight to play. Enthusiasts wonโ€™t find it overly challenging but donโ€™t let that stop you, it was a true delight.

Throughout the game, we probably said "wow" and "oh, that's what it's used for!" numerous times. There were moments when we felt like this was a magic box and other times when we thought it's an escape room in a box. We don't know how NPH was able to pull this off but he's brainwaves is definitely on another wavelength. We enjoyed the backstory as much as the game play. The build up was intense and the main character (plus the special appearances by NPH myself) really portrayed the urgency of the mission. Comedy is something NPH tries to include in everything he does and we definitely had our share of laughter. Although I know this game is supposed to be for "ME TIME", it's definitely playable as date night, family night and group puzzle night. Just remember to cover NPH's eye if you decide to "cheat" because he's watching your every move...

Iโ€™ve had Box One on the to-play shelf of shame for months. But every time I opened it up to peek inside I thought to myself โ€œhuh, is that it?โ€ No. That is NOT IT. Expect the unexpected at every turn.

BoxONEโ€˜s evolving gameplay is an incredibly satisfying to experience, regardless of your experience as a puzzler. But for newer players especially, this is a perfect introduction to the genre.

Although we tackled it as a duo, Iโ€™d recommend going with the gameโ€™s instruction to play it solo. But if youโ€™re in a team, no more than two people.

If you like the โ€˜big revealโ€™ aspect of playing escape rooms, then this is definitely a game you should play.

That game was a blast, exceeding my expectations and surprising and delighting me along the way. Much like Solve Our Shirts, there were more surprises baked into the game than one would expect, some of which were completely unexpected. It was an exciting ride, and a great value for the cost.
