Since the late 1970βs a house on a small suburban street in Leicester has remained abandoned. The previous tenants, a family of three, disappeared without a trace.
Rumours quickly spread around the area, had they run away? Been murdered? Or perhaps something even more sinister had taken place?
The authorities could find no evidence of any wrongdoing but officers investigating the disappearance claimed the house gave off a dark energy and that they could not stay in there for longer than an hour.
Little did they know that hidden somewhere in the house is a portal to another dimension. A dimension of pure evil.
Now, over 40 years later, the same thing has happened again. A team of paranormal investigators known as S.P.R.I.G. (Supernatural and Paranormal Research and Investigation Group) disappeared while looking into the property and trying to find a way to close the portal.
As new members of S.P.R.I.G. it is up to you and your team to enter the house and finish the job of the previous team.
Upon entering you are locked inside and now time is running out! Solve the puzzles and find the gateway before its guardian, the eerie entity known only as Mr. Moon, gets to you.
The Gateway is the fourth puzzle room at Escapologic Leicester and the most immersive experience we have created to date. Entering the abandoned house you will immediately feel like you have stepped inside a classic supernatural horror film in the same vein as The Exorcist or The Conjuring series. Mr Moon joins the ranks of Escapologicβs original horror icons, The Butcher and Howie the clown and is a horrific combination of the Slender Man and the Cenobite Pinhead (Hellraiser).

My favourite Escapologic game that combines all the things they do best - immersive sets, great hosting and lots of tension. The puzzles were pretty good too - but would have liked a few more perhaps in a less linear fashion. Finale was excellent however and totally unexpected.

I've just got home after experiencing "The Gateway" and in the two hours it's taken me to drive home, I haven't stopped thinking about it.
My partner and I consider ourselves relatively experienced escape room players and have played somewhere in the region of 30-40 of them, but nothing has come anywhere close to being as impressive as this one!
Not only is the theming the best I have ever experienced, but the atmosphere was mind-blowing. I genuinely felt terrified for the full 52 minutes it took us to escape. I have never been so scared in my life. The puzzles were excellent and allowed the room to flow perfectly. Each puzzle was relatively simple and ensured that we were fully immersed in the horrifying story.
I have never seen theming like it. Every other escape room should have "The Gateway" as the benchmark. I'm actually a little lost for words while writing this review as I don't know quite how to do Escapologic justice, words simply cannot explain just how phenomenal this escape room is. Without doubt the best I've ever played and I suspect it may remain that way forever.
Shout-out to the staff too. Our Games Master (Courtney) was amazing and gave hints at just the right times. Plus she was VERY inventive with the way the hints were delivered.
We're coming back to play the rest of the rooms here. Escapologic have absolutely smashed it out of the park!
Without a doubt the best escape room set I have ever seen. The attention to detail is immaculate, and every single part of the game was in keeping with the theme. The use of technology is outstanding.
Only problem is we were too spooked to concentrate and didn't make it out (wimps!) Fantastic game would highly recommend.
I really didnβt know what to expect with The Gateway, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Just the right level of darkness, no frustrations, and a good flow to the story, well done Escapologic - great fun!
This room is already a real spectacle and this was testing. Itβs only going to get better and better. When it finally opens at the end of October, this is a room that people are going to, quite rightly, be talking about. It is going to be more than worth travelling out of your way in order to play this. I cannot recommend enough just how good this is going to be! Get yourself booked in early!
