This is very close to being a five star game, the wear and tear on some of the mechanics, the use of a random set of objects to do (roughly) something they're not supposed to (if you know, you know), the scanning which I'm pretty certain was someone not paying attention ;), and the lack of apparent use of one of the fairly major items in the record shop that we're still puzzled about being the main reason for the reduction and none of those are particularly big of themselves.
The set dressing is extremely well done - probably one of the best we've seen and the puzzles have a logical progression (except for the accidental magnet left in the room - which didn't ruin the flow of the rooms, just meant we got something out of sequence).
Hosting was great from both the initial dialogue with Simon and when he handed over to Lois.
Puzzles are a mixture of logic, practical, observation, aural and deduction plausible to do for both a novice group and a more advanced group. There's quite a lot to do for the 3 we had in the room and we'd probably have benefited from another pair of (younger) eyes, but there are bottleneck places that might bunch people up from time to time.
I did get a bit of a bonk on the head at one point which was a bit annoying, but there is a hard hat....I'd advise wearing it.
Amazing room, theming is about the best there is. Reminds me a little of Pudding lane in the theming, which is a very good thing. Worth a long trip to do this one.
We scored 8th fastest OF ALL TIME (out of almost 6000 groups!)
The room is absolutely beautiful. Energetic and super friendly host/gamemaster. A very wide range of puzzles that anyone could participate in, though a lot of it is just noticing things and remembering where those things were.
Since we finished in less than half the time, the gamemaster came in and let us spend time just exploring everything a bit more and having some friendly chatter.
Rewards received included a personalised-stamped card and some Pier Pressure badges.
THIS IS A MUST-PLAY ROOM!!
Outstanding set design, creative and unique puzzles, hilarious hosting, and some good laughs along the way! What more could you ask for? A fantastic game all round! We had loads of fun.
It's definitely doable as a 2. The gameplay is linear and there are some small spaces so I wouldn't recommend it for large groups, to be honest. We also got room-specific pin badges and a stamped time card which was such a nice touch!

Loot The Lanes should need little introduction. It's occupied the #1 slot on this site's rankings of UK games for far longer than any of its rivals, and it was the highest ranked UK game in the TERPECA awards in 2019, 2020 and 2021. As a result it's been top of my list of games to play for an unconscionably long time, with a visit delayed by a combination of the pandemic and the fiddly logistics of organising a group for a Brighton trip. It officially requires at least four players, but is playa...
