Second game we have done here, the pricing is more than we normally pay but its definitely worth a visit if you love escape rooms. Theme was great and hosting superb from Lewis, stayed In character throughout and gave a lot of interesting back story for the room. You start separated but within reach of each other. Some great puzzles, not the standard padlock codes and locks everywhere which we enjoyed. When things clicked it was satisfying and teamwork is definitely important if you want to complete this game in time! So keep your cool with each other. Highly recommend the escape key and after doing armageddom the first time we travelled up here, it was a basis for a second weekend away up to Newcastle! Thanks guys

Loved this room run by this friendly independent escape room company in the heart of Newcastle. Our host was fun, friendly and attentive, giving exactly the right amount of support, and only stepping in when we really needed him. There were some really creative unusual puzzles and the smallish footprint of the room was used really ingeniously, so that it felt much bigger. There was plenty to do and even though we very much enjoyed it as a team of only two, I think larger teams would be able to divide and conquer too! I would say four would be the optimum team size for a decent escape time. We enjoyed being able to have a personal hand in all of the puzzles though, and the ending was rather exciting! Added bonus was the immersive nature of the storyline which was steeped in local history - really made it feel unique. Can highly recommend!!

The room was beautifully done and hard but I felt like the gm was too helpful, I some cases telling us the answer before we'd even a chance to think about it. On balance I think I'd rather have failed the room than be rushed through it as we were.

This was by far my favourite game The Escape Key has to offer. A refreshing lack of combination locks and a great introduction based on local history to get you in the mood for the game. Really enjoyed this one!

Almost my favourite room but ElectriCity just edged it ot (only due to one lock which just didnt seem to belong). This is a local history room and uses the view out of the briefing room window as inspiration for the room. I do love a local history room, they bring the narration to life so well. The room is stunningly built, it reallt does look and feel and smell like an medieval jail cell and the puzzles are well themed and fit into the story, add to that some mice theatrical flourishes and you have a must play room.
