New UK escape rooms May 2026

By | May 31, 2026

A sad farewell to two much-loved industry stalwarts with The Escape Goat and Exciting Escapes, with gratitude to both for the games they’ve built and run over the years; you might be in time to get some final slots for The Escape Goat if you’re quick.

Otherwise, here’s the usual round-up of new escape rooms for the last month, featuring pirates, spaceships, creepy dolls and much more.

Greater London

🔒 In Hornchurch, the ever-prolific Room Lockdown have opened The Crows, a horror room with a novel concept; and The Extremis Project, an intense experience for two.

🔒 Escape Hunt will shortly open their third branch in the capital; their new Wandsworth location will have Alice in Puzzleland, Curse of the Pharaoh, Excalibur, Eye of the Sun God, and Jewel of India.

South East England

🔒 Hysteria have expanded to a new second location, this one in Sittingbourne – and it looks like they’ve gone over and beyond with the first game at this venue, the Norse-themed Supremacy.

🔒 Escape From The Room added a copy of puzzle-frenzy game The Mixed Up Mind of Mr Crabheal to their High Wycombe branch.

🎭 In Brighton, The Lift now offer a city trail experience called Dr Riddlesworth’s Puzzle Panic.

Also new, from last month’s update:
🔒 The latest puzzle pod at Sip ‘n’ Solve (Other World Escapes) in Portsmouth is Beeston Castle.

Last call for:
❗️ The Escape Goat (Dover) (closing 30 Jun)
❗️ Mythologic Escape Rooms (Gillingham): The Greatest Bank Heist (closing 31 Jul)

Channel Islands

🔒 MTG Escapes on Guernsey added another outdoor driving-based game, called The Pact of the Pouques.

South West England

🔒 Enigma Escapes in Wells aren’t helping their players sleep peacefully with new scare theme Once Upon A Nightmare.

🔒 Lister Over Time is the new game from social enterprise The Engine in Dursley, open from next week.

Also new, from last month’s update:
🔒 Devon Escape (Newton Abbot): Prison Break: Uprising

Wales

🔒 Bug Out is a revamp of PanIQ Rooms Wales’ previous game The Basement Conspiracy; it’s become more family-friendly, but appears to retain some of the puzzle content from its predecessor.

🔒 In Pontypridd, Treforest Escape Rooms added a set of VR escape rooms to their line-up: Mansion of Death, School of Magic, and The B-Block Breakout.

West Midlands

🔒 Are horror themes becoming more common? Cannon Raceway in Bilston have opened one too; theirs is Hollow Hills Asylum.

🔒 Escape Live Birmingham: The Case Files: Blood on Broadway opens on 22 May

🔒 Birmingham’s branch of Escape Hunt added familiar game Blackbeard’s Treasure to their offerings.

🔒 Sixth and presumably last of this year’s outdoor escape rooms at Alderford Escape Islands is The Dragon Quest.

Also new, from last month’s update:
🔒 XscapeNow (Telford): Sultan’s Secret – Grand Edition

East Midlands

🔒 Another opportunity for a stay+escape: One Way Out have now launched their overnight experience Curious End Cottage with 4-6 hours of puzzling; you can book a daytime visit just for the puzzles, or simply as accommodation, or the combination of both.

🔒 Escape Leicester will shortly open Mayan Temple, presumably the same design also available at the East London branch.

East of England

🔒 Hard to go wrong with a dino adventure, doubly so when it’s from Cluetopia: their Braintree branch will offer Dino-Dash from the 13th June.

🔒 Alien rescue room Specimen 27 has just launched at Exit Rooms – Cambridge Escape Rooms.

🔒 Latest at Angle Escape in Peterborough is Vault: McAngleson, where a mad scientist wants to destroy the moon, and only you – aka James Tond – can stop him.

🔒 Last year EO Escape Rooms introduced a range of tabletop games to play on-site, and now they’ve added four more to the list you can play: CATastrophe, The Card Shark, The Maid of Dishonour, and The Ritual.

North West England

🔒 A very welcome return to The Curse of the Golden Lion, always highly rated when it was at Wirral Escapes and now back in Wirral as Golden Lion Escapes.

🔒 More opportunities to get your peg-leg and parrot on – Mutiny is the new room at Lucardo Rawtenstall (note that it has a 45 min runtime).

🔒 Altrincham’s Code to Exit also have a new room, with space theme The Escape Pod.

🔒 Blackpool is one of two places to get a new branch of Houdini’s; this one will offer Apocalypse: Shelter 23 , Creepy Carnival, and The Lost Pharaoh.

Yorkshire and the Humber

🔒 Sherlocks Escape Room in Whitby have updated their room, and it’s now called The Curse of the Whitby Siren.

🔒 More new cursing a little way down the coast at Escape Room Scarborough, whose game Curse of the Pirate King opens tomorrow.

🔒 Whereas in the other direction, Redcar’s A Place To Escape have a new crime thriller, Catch Me If You Can.

🔒 And the other new Houdini’s is in Wakefield, with Apocalypse: Shelter 23, Room 13, and The Lost Pharaoh.

North East England

🎭 The Detective Rooms is a new company in Durham, and their two-hour Crime Rooms appear to be a little different: the focus is on realistic forensic and detective investigation, rather than typical escape room puzzles. They currently have four cases: Lord Clayton’s Study, Murder on the 1.30 from Plymouth, The Cobra Room, and The Odyssey.

🔒 New from Pirate Escape in Whitley Bay, Time Hotel looks like a fun take on the time machine genre.

Scotland

🔒 Case Closed in Edinburgh will shortly add a third ‘brief cases’ experience, this one a space thriller called Call of the Void.

🔒 Bell Pettigrew Museum of Natural History (St Andrews): Code to the Crown
