Not generally a fan of Egyptian themed rooms but this was a truly good one! Some really clever puzzles and the hint system (in different phases!) was excellent and definitely something out of the ordinary. One puzzle that stumped us for a while (just not our thing, not the fault of the room!) cost us the chance to get the final relic but some great props, clever decoration.
My only observation is that it is quite a dark room. We had two lanterns but on the orange setting they were pretty hopeless and it was a struggle to get them to stay on the white setting as they kept turning back to orange!
I'm not a massive fan of this room, to be honest. I never like rooms that are dark for a long period and I was even less impressed to find out that we'd done the whole of the room, not realising that the lanterns could be turned up brighter.
We were possibly tired at this point, but some of the puzzles were a bit illogical and/or hard for more than a couple of people to be involved with at once at once.
Not a massive fan of a lot of the puzzles, esp the ones at the end.
Accessibility: up a set of steps. There are points where at least one person will need to crawl.
A really fun game that was let down slightly by a couple of challenges near the end. Expect a big, meandering set, reasonable decoration, fun puzzles and plenty to keep you occupied for most of your hour.
This is a room that would be perfect for those new to escape rooms or seasoned escapers. The puzzles were fun, the room was solid, and the sense of exploration was spot on. With different βwinβ levels, it works for everyone regardless of experience level.
Next up in our Cryptology-a-thon was Rameseize, which we want to give an award to for the best name for an Egyptian themed room! As you may expect, with this room you are tasked with ransacking Ramesesβ tomb to βseizeβ three ancient relics before your rival treasure hunters catch you up and bury you alive in the tomb to claim the treasure for themselves. As usual, no pressure then hey!
Our team at Rate The Escapes took on the Egyptian themed escape room Rameseize and managed to escape with all three ancient relics. Read of review of the Escape Room Rameseize.
