A nice room, very well maintained, some nice automated stuff and technology, and some nice surprises. The puzzles were very logical and well signposted, we finished this witihout a single clue in 48 minutes. Im not sure if it was easy or if it was just so logical that it flowed easily. It felt challenging, had a good time.
Great sense of development as you progress through this game and a few lovely surprises as well. We really enjoyed how creative some of the puzzles felt and they really utilised props from the theme perfectly. The only downside for me was that some of the latter spaces didn’t have as much of a wow factor in terms of set even though the puzzles were still good.
We did this room as a team of four. Two of us have done near 40 escape rooms and the other two had done 2-3. I would consider this room quite easy.
That said, the puzzles were generally entertaining and the set was nicely put together.
Both of the hosts we met were exceptional and we were met with enthusiasm from the moment we entered the building until the moment we left. Michaela ran our room.
This room is very similar in style to their room “Venus” in Guildford. If you liked that one, you’ll probably like this one.
The puzzles are generally non-linear and the more people you have in your team, the faster you’ll be able to get through them.
I personally think it’d be the perfect difficulty level for a group of two.
Would recommend this room.
With an escape room coming to a town near us... we couldn't resist the (very) short trip to Paradox Parlours. We were met by our game host with enthusiasm and were swiftly led into the room, which we were more than pleasantly surprised to find had an area unrelated to the game to store coats etc, which being a freezing day came in handy! The game itself played out very nicely, with some unique puzzle and a VERY unique (so far, for us) story based progression system. There's probably a couple of tiny tweaks that could be done to make it even better than it already is, and every so slightly let down by a lock being already set to the right combination (though we had solved the puzzle before noticing, so not much harm done other than suspense of not changing the tumblers!)
After the game, we had a very nice chat with one of the owners, coming away with some very useful recommendations.
Will be back in the new year when their new games open!
This was a great room with a variety of puzzles. I really liked that there were different levels of success with this one - as a team of 6 we were able to solve everything but if we usually play as a smaller team and then we may have solved the basic level but not the more advanced way. Either way it was a great room.
