Each of us, at least once in our lives, has seen an alley cat: slightly untidy, skinny, but very proud. That’s what Vinnie (nee Vincent) was. An old lady gave him that name. She regularly fed him, but, alas, that was a short-lived paradise. The old lady went to live with her grandchildren, who, as it turned out, were allergic to cat hair, and Vinnie was turned out to fend for himself, much to his dissatisfaction.
In New York, where he lived, Vinnie often heard from old cats the legend of the Island of cats, where you will always be fed enough and no one will hurt you. And, although he didn't really believe the stories of old folks, it was the legend that he decided to check...
