Sir Henry Cunningham stumbled upon a great secret during his travels in Africa and on his return to Yorkshire, spent his days working on strange and complex experiments in the rambling family home. Locals blame those experiments for the unexplained explosion that destroyed the old house, after which Sir Henry was never seen again.
Now a back-up laboratory has been discovered in the estate’s gatehouse, South Lodge, and as a potential heir of Sir Henry you have the chance to unravel its secrets.
If the locals are right, dangers await in South Lodge’s laboratory and you must overcome them to learn the secret of his lab and escape to tell the tale.

A fabulous science based room (you know when there's a periodic table in the room thats going to be used). Gameplay is mostly non-linear but co-operation is most definitely needed towards the end. Theming is excellent and hints are provided from a screen in the room.
Kanyu Escape, also known as Secrets of South Lodge, has been on my radar since before it even opened, initially for the intriguing game titles but more recently for the consistently high praise they seem to receive. A beautiful room that was fun to be in and had solid - albeit similarly styled - puzzles. With a relatively low difficulty level this is the perfect game for beginners to head along to..
The steampunk visuals are certainly arresting, and the stark difference of style and content between this and Follow In My Footsteps show that Kanyu are not a one-trick pony.
Possibly Almost certainly the best escape room I’ve done. Great variety, satisfying puzzles, clear signposting and a realistic setting. Except for the one puzzle that I mishandled and caused to not work exactly right, the room was faultless.
