Abandoned in 1986, Leeds Chophouse lies dilapidated, like an unwanted memory of our past. You have fantasised about the sights inside, until one evening, you could not contain your curiosityβ¦
You have made it. You have found your entrance and you have found your way in. Eager to explore, you skip down the dimly lit corridors gleefully. It has been three decades since a single footstep has echoed within these walls⦠or so you thought.
Stumbling upon a collection of worn photographs, you find images of other captured souls, tortured and tormented. Yet still, your curiosity urges you to continue, thumbing through old boxes, each photo more sick and twisted than itβs predecessor.
One particular photo catches your eye. A person starved. Excruciatingly thin. Mouth sewn together and eyes bleeding crimson tears. You struggle to breathe. As you look closer, you realise the date printed on the photograph reads the very day you entered the chophouse.

So far this room is the best example of all decoration, no substance. The acting and the scary elements were brilliant. Went into it with a bit of worry and the start of the game really helped to amplify that. As soon as you started on the puzzles though the room went quickly downhill. The puzzles were incredibly easy, mostly boring and essentially pointless for the story - only really existed for some cheap further scares. Was very disappointed considering the hype.
I was hoping to really enjoy this game after it was so highly rated, unfortunately it was complete opposite. At multiple instances we were disappointed and at 3 points we were literally told by the host "sorry guys, just serving at the bar so I haven't been watching" π when asking for a clue, absolutely diabolical. Tech (or button pressing) didn't happen in a timely fashion and lead to moments of frustration as were told to go back "and try again" and suddenly the item now worked. We also skipped the end of the game (due to tech malfunctioning), and when asked about it, the host was clearly on damage control. We were offered a discount as we had problems - turns out this was just the returning discount that everyone is offered, which felt like a kick in the teeth. The cherry on the cake was the host asking for a positive review on TripAdvisor. Overall wouldn't recommend.
This game started with a big fear factor, which was also fun, and for us a little doggy came in the room (a highlight!). There was a good use of space and some puzzles that we had to think quite hard about. There was a fun fear factor where we tried to stay together as much as possible because we werenβt sure what the space would hold. Overall good fun.

We did this a few years ago now - the hosting was great if different to anything else we've done. We loved the jump scare within too. It's still one that we remember and talk about a long time after - more for the immersion, the feeling in the room and the interactivity.
If you're interested in playing a horror room, then this should be reasonably high up your list if you're in the area. On the other hand, if you're just after a normal experience, a flawed puzzle will really frustrate you at a critical point in the room.
On the 2nd of February completely last minute we decided to book an escape room. Pagan suggested Abducted, after a short browse of the information this room seemed perfect for us. It was dark, horror-based and most of all scary! All the things we live for. We set off and arrived around half an hour before for our game and located in quite an unassuming location just on the edge of a side street was The Great Escape Game (which we should remind is also multi-award-winning). This was our first time visiting and the ratings for the company were high so we were wondering would they meet our expectations. The answer to that is hell yes and even more so. On entering the building we were met by Lee, a gracious and welcoming host who took us through to the bar area which is beautiful by the way and got us all checked in which is done quickly and efficiently over a QR Code.
