Mary Queen of Scots led a dramatic, bloody life saturated in murder, deceit and treachery. Throughout her life Mary was repeatedly deceived by a group of immoral Scottish Nobles. So ruthless were their acts they even murdered her best friend David Rizzio, by stabbing him over 50 times as she watched helplessly.
Towards the end of her life she sought refuge, trusting in her cousin Queen Elizabeth I. She was lured to her death, as Elizabeth coldly ordered her execution. Mary met her tragic end, beheaded by three gruesome strikes of a blunt axe.
The brutality of Maryβs life gave rise to a vengeful spirit. Following countless unexplained deaths, authorities closed Sandyford Castle and erased its existence from history. The haunted castle has lay derelict and abandoned for centuries.
You are part of a group of spiritual mediums who are determined to uncover the secrets of Maryβs life. You have ignored all warnings and remain resolute in your determination to lay her malefic ghost to rest. Will you succeed, or will you become another victim of the castle?

Definitely creepy rather than scary, this is a nice room with lots of quirky puzzles. It's a good use of a fairly small space and we really enjoyed the unique Mary Queen of Scots theme.
I played the first incarnation of this game when it was based in Linlithgow and it has been significantly upgraded since then. The original was alot more historical with lots of lovely information on the life of Mary Queen of Scots, which suited the location perfectly (in the shadow of Linlithgow Palace), so it was nice to see that the historic aspect had been pared down for the Glasgow version (although I did miss it as I like that stuff, but it was alot of reading). The game is much more atmospheric with some lovely effects to enhance the room. Theres a nice variety of puzzles and not too much searching, and the game quickly opens up to allow teams to work on multiple puzzles. Its a lovely room for a team of 2-3 enthusiasts, but I wouldn't recommend more than 4 enthusiasts.
Myself and my team absolutely loved this escape room - itβs so inventive and engaging, and you can actually learn something from it too! The start of the game is really clever, and there are so many unique little touches throughout, including some really cool wee effects, some unusual hiding places, and some creative practical puzzles that werenβt just your run of the mill padlocks. The exit was unexpected too - we really love rooms where the way out/climax isnβt just getting back out of the door you came in by! The team at these escape rooms are absolutely lovely too, and we are hoping that their relatively recent move across to the West End of Glasgow (from Linlithgow) goes really well for them - we shall definitely be back!
