broken tech

This might have been an OK room once (some traces remain, that's why we don't give this one only 1 star but 1.5), but nowadays it's just bad in a lot of ways. It might just have a place in our top 10 of worst rooms we ever played (out of over 300).
The room falls apart, the wall decorations come off, the ceiling and the walls have holes, and a locker that used to be attached to a wall is completly lose and can be accessed from the side - letting you bypass a lock completly if you wanted (we had to ask the GM if this bypass was part of the game or not; and it was not). Most of these things are easily fixable, but somebody would need to care enough to do some minor repairs that would maybe take a day. But apparently this company has no issues with charching full price for a broken product.
Apart from the appearance and problems arising from bad maintenance, the room wasn't reset correctly, and we find hidden clues in the wrong order. We ended up getting stuff at a point where we did no longer need it, which completly confused us and broke our flow.  Also, most riddles were basic to a point where they can hardly be considered riddles, it's more about just trying the most straightforward things.
The GM was friendly, but kept giving us clues and hints through the walkie talkie even though we specifically told him that we would want to ask for them actively. This was extremly frustrating since most of these little clues or questions were not necessary at all since we were already working on stuff or had these things in the back of our mind to come back to later.
The icing on the cake was the last riddle, which had a technical failure, so we have no idea if we even solved it since the GM at some point just came in and told us we got out.
We were not offered any sort of (partial) refund even though there were major issues. To be fair, we did also not ask for it, but with the amount of issues we had I would expect this from a serious company.
We hope nobody else using this site will play this room. We saw the 4 stars on the map, and were completly mislead - these escape review sites seem to have a lot more weight than other user ratings.

novel puzzlesquite difficult

Dark room with some live interaction. Good puzzles though

Not good at all. Arrived and had to wait around for 15 minutes as only 1 person front of house. They disappeared twice before we started, to sort out 'technical issues'. This was resolved with 'I switched it off then switched it on again'. They were never 'in character' and seemed almost embarrassed to relate the story.  Room itself was very cheaply done with too many things no longer properly screwed to the walls, lose screws etc. The story never really played out either. We never 'called for evac', 'decontaminated the landing pad' or seemed to actually evacuate. Puzzles were mainly padlocks. Too many clues were given to us without us asking for them, such that we finished, somewhat deflated, 10 minutes early. The tech was shockingly bad. The phone app we needed locked itself and wouldn't unlock so that clue was just given to us, the red alarm indicating a guard was coming just kept going off for 5 minutes, the bluetooth control for the prison door wouldn't reset, and the walkie-talkie interfered with the sound system. There were cables and plugs everywhere and the whole place looked like it was made of cardboard. All this for £88 for 4 people. Don't bother.

Breakout! is Lock and Code's third game, the first in their town centre branch, and the most ambitious of their three so far. It's set in a future dystopia with post-apocalyptic overtones, with more than a few sly nods to the Fallout computer game series. You've been captured whilst on an intel gathering mission, and must break out of your cell, steal critical information and arrange for an evac pick-up to get you safely away.

This was a really enjoyable room, a little bit rough around the edges in places but had a good mixture of finding things and solving things.
