This room seemed fairly traditional on the surface. The theme was very cold-war spy, and well implemented – without too many distractions. (But with a satisfying number of James Bonds watching you work!)
The puzzles suited the theme all the way through. It wasn’t a long sequence of padlocks – but there were keys and locks to work with at times. There were also several unusual items and information we needed to find, and we spent a significant amount of time searching for them. This bit into our overall time but I think I can safely say we deserved that. It felt frustrating whilst we were casting around, but in retrospect each came with a little “ah ha!” moment, and they were fun once you realised what you had to do and where to focus your efforts.
Overall the room was fun and well executed. It’s more traditional fare – and doesn’t have high-tech gimmicks, but it does pleasantly surprise you a few times as you play. Be prepared to spend time searching, but also think hard about where you’re doing it.
