We were one of the first groups to play this room, and at the time no-one had beaten it – we didn’t either, though we missed it only by a matter of seconds. It was difficult mainly because of the sheer quantity of puzzles to get through, which arguably is value for money. I’ve heard from the operators that they’ve subsequently made adjustments, so I suspect it’s now not quite as tough.
Some of the puzzles perhaps relied a little too much on printed text, and at one point we were led astray by there being more alphabet cipher tables than we needed to solve a puzzle – although again, we played it at a fairly early stage so some of the small frustrations we noted may have been ironed out now. Nonetheless, there was a nice surprise moment and it was a good room throughout.
They had too many red herrings which acted as a distraction and in some puzzles disadvantaged smaller teams, but were in development at the time we played; rating based on how they will probably have made the game now.
