1940 – Bletchley

The war is not going well. The Germans are advancing towards the coast of France and Belgium. Any resistance made by the allied forces is swept aside by the mighty German army. A resistance group have found top secret plans from the German high command which describe the next phase of the German advance including most crucially how they plan to invade England. The plans were being decoded in a secret hut near Bletchley but all of the agents have mysteriously disappeared. You have been asked to assemble a team by Mr Churchill to go to the secret hut and try to find the plans before it is too late.

When you unlock the door to the hut you quickly discover that you have triggered an alarm, you have 1 hour to find the plans or suffer a far worse fate.

Interesting setup but this is a hard game, not having been changed in any aspect from the live version, we failed due to a search fail (after we lost time for another search fail) which, when we found it,  I still think was a tad unfair for a remote room.  If we'd actually been there then I think we would have stood more of a chance.  Audio/video was excellent throughout as was Georgie (our Avatar).  Inventory was telescape based but nothing that was used was taken away so it built up as the game progressed.  There are some excellent puzzles here and theming was on point throughout but the search fail did leave a slight taste in the mouth.

Okay, so this review will be a little biased, written under the influence of free alcohol. That joyous, dizzying feeling of being invincible, laughing at nothing, wanting to hug everyone, pleasant level of drunkenness – that’s the experience of absolutely smashing an enjoyable Escape Room.
