Great escape room. Loved the music playing as we climbed the stairs. Very good storyline and great puzzles

Managed this with my 7 year old and she loved it. Perfect first escape room. All you would want in a classic room of this type with some lovely surprises. Visually stunning and puzzles that will work well with the younger more visual learners! Brilliant hosting...

Had a great time at Excape! Fantastic hosting with a really enthusiastic owner/GM and a really fun room. Was full of stuff to do and is different to other Sherlock themed rooms in the area, easily the best one!

Definitely worth playing and look forward to returning 🙂

Excape: The Games Afoot
Overview
This was our third visit and final visit to Exmouth back in December 22 to meet Dan and Helen it what has been one of our more enjoyable companies to visit! The company is located right in the centre of Exmouth and there is a big car park just outside of the town centre, making it about a 5 minute walk to the building. You walk up one flight of stairs where we were greeted by Helen, our game master and we were given a brief on solving a mystery and were given a walkie talkie to ask for help if needed and taken into the room to start. We won’t ruin the start of the room but there was a nice little twist with us all needing to do something to start the game and this was a nice refreshing twist.
Room impression
The room was set up as a mid 1900’s office and even though the room has been open for a while, it still looked authentic and you could quickly get into the theme (with the help of detective hats). Decoration was of a good standard and mobility issues wouldn’t be a problem in the room. Lighting was also fine in the room.
Puzzles
The majority of this room was collecting evidence to rule out suspects. There weren’t many locks to get through and some different puzzles that we hadn’t see before made it quite interesting. We only really struggled on one point of the point and that was our own fault collider not using an obvious tool to help. The room flowed nicely and we weren’t running around looking lost for any real point of the game.
Game Master Clues
The game master gave us a walkie talkie and when we needed the one hint, it was helpful without giving much away, which is what you want from a GM. Apart from that, there was no other interaction between us and the GM throughout the game.
Round Up
We managed to escape with plenty of time in this room and the beginning was a nice different twist to start a game and set the tone. We let ourselves down with one part that we needed help on but this didn’t ruin the experience of the game. As mentioned; the room is a bit old now and compared to the other 2 rooms at Excape, this one could probably do with an update at some point as the other rooms are that good and fresh. It’s nice that a room isn’t littered with padlocks and gave us something else to think about throughout the time.
Excape is a brilliant little place and the owners are lovely and welcoming and we will certainly be back when there are more rooms to do.
