Two player games are a bit scarce on the ground, but Clue Adventures is an exception – Jet2Space is their second game that not only is playable by two, but which requires exactly two. This one takes the players on a ‘WheesyJet’ automated journey on a budget spaceship that almost certainly won’t go wrong…
This is a light-hearted game where the puzzles are peppered with puns and innuendo, some subtle and some really, really not – references to Uranus abound. It’s also compact, and heavy on the electronics. This spaceship is Star Trek crossed with a budget airline, with a passing nod or two at an arcade hall.
I’ve always found Clue Adventures reliable for solid and creative puzzle design, and that’s true here also. I’d rate this as their easiest game yet though: more levity, less of a workout for the brain cells, with several steps that definitely focus on fun, silliness and high energy. Naturally I wouldn’t want to suggest anything that’s against the venue’s policies, but it strikes me as a game that would be perfect played after a drink or two.
That, along with the happily puerile humour, makes this an excellent date game. With two experienced players we zoomed through it in just over half an hour, which given the £35pp price tag felt definitely on the short side, and that’s my biggest hesitation in recommending it to enthusiasts. But it would be a great warmup to combine with the venue’s harder 2 Tickets 2 Ride game; and for a less experienced pair looking for a silly good time, this fits the bill perfectly.
