This game was fun with some room for improvement. The lack of signposting which padlocks might link to which clue was a little frustrating but as itβs a smallish room not too bad. There was one puzzle that related to a star map that I didnβt enjoy as to me the clues didnβt quite match the end result and it was difficult to see what you were looking for. The room had some fun touches mainly at the end. The website wasnβt great as you had to go all the way to booking to see how many people could do the room and I didnβt realise this was a spooky themed room until we got there so it would be nice to have a bit more clear info on the site.
Since having to close for Covid and having to completely renovate due to a catastrophic water leak, it seems like Escape Room Scarborough have had a bit of a revamp. We were offered this game because we'd powered our way through two others but we enjoyed it. Like the other games here, it's padlock heavy and there isn't much signposting but we don't mind trying lots of different padlocks so we're OK with that. There are some great puzzles in here and the last couple of bits are really quirky and fun.
This was our only room during out escapade to Scarborough so were looking forward to try it. Specially after we asked the company which room they would recommend out of all of their rooms. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed.
There was not real logic between the puzzles, it was unclear what order to follow and one clue was used several times, which is unusual and misleading.
We escaped with only few minutes to spare and the very last puzzle is a great and very smart reveal! It's a shame that the rest of the room doesn't follow. We also had the feeling that the last puzzles were made to be extremely difficult in order for only a very few amount of people to escape.
The owner is lovely though but I would recommend trying another one of their room!
As an enthusiast we were really looking forward to visiting the only Escape Room in Scarborough but we were really disappointed with the visit.
The room was nicely themed although had far too many objects in there, alot were packed behind perspex so we were unable to rule out the many many red herrings in the room.
The room lacked a logical starting point and we had real difficulty seeing many of the puzzles due to the awful lighting, although perhaps the room relies on natural light as it was darkening outside. The room lacked any sense of flow and the host likes to use many padlocks on one item, so on solving a puzzle you had nowhere to use what you had found and were back to being stumped.
It was clear that the host wasn't fully watching your game as when we were stuck clues came slowly and when they did arrive they usually related to a puzzle we had already solved. To me as an enthusiast I did not enjoy this game and would advise others to avoid.
