We were plagued with tech issues, including the complete failure of the timing/hint screen. The room is incredibly linear, and is quite simple throughout. It is thematically excellent, the props and set dressing are really good. But it is a shame that the old Heist room got replaced, which had excellent asymmetrical gameplay.
Beautiful set, insanely immersive room. Would’ve rated it higher but had multiple issues with tech meaning puzzles got changed and we spent most of the game confused what we were supposed to be doing.
A really beautiful room, very immersive and built on site by the team. Meg was a great GM, even when we needed help with a cryptex that seemed to be broken (one of the letters was stuck, but it was stuck on a correct letter). Some great, original puzzles and good background music. A really enjoyable experience.
Not that difficult - yes we're experienced but we finished in under 35 minutes as a team of two.
This was our first room as a 2 rather than a 4, but we managed to cope! Some lovely props and overall theming throughout. Nice twists on standard puzzles too. You could see how someone else could build the same room and not do it anywhere near as nicely - some real cvare has been taken in making the room look authentic. Good job!

The Cardiff Castle has quickly become one of my favourite escape games in Wales. With a beautiful set, wonderful a-ha moments and solid puzzles, it’s an instant win for me.
I’d hyped up the game quite a bit in my mind during lockdown, and I was delighted that it had exceeded my expectations.
If you enjoyed The Tomb and are looking for something a bit more challenging, The Cardiff Castle should be next on your list. But I think everyone will get a kick out of playing this room.
I’d recommend this game for groups of 2-3 (four maximum) as the rooms aren’t too big and bigger groups might step on one another’s toes.
This game is the closest to a Crystal Maze style experience you’re likely to get without going to the real deal. You’ll have a blast!
