broken techpoor hosting

To be honest we were a little disappointed with this. Nice reception lobby and themed build but a few things that let the game down.

The games master wasnt as engaging and on the ball as we would like. The torches in the room were pretty useless and one had an intermittent fault and flashed on and off as it had a loose connection. We continually moaned about it and light levels yet nothing was done. At the end she said it was because we pressed the on/off button too many times but why not say that in the game and it also wasnt that, it was definitely a faulty torch as she couldnt get it to work when she showed us.

In one part there is audio played but we couldnt hear it as its fairly quiet and right by the corridor leading to another game so all we could hear was people outside talking.

Just left a bit flat esp as these are all easy to fix. Torches not working is a basic and players shouldnt have issues seeing what they are doing.

Would prob try their other games and just hope to have more of an engaged games master. Feel really rude saying it as she seemed like she may be new but its an honest feedback and it really does make a lot of difference to the experience.

poor hosting

Some puzzles were not clear, i.e you could interpret it different ways, and one was not named so you couldn't be sure that was one of them, to put it vaguely without saying too much.

The room was really dark and made it hard to see. Sure, that was to keep it within theme, but the torches were not bright enough.

The speakers were really hard to hear in the game. Especially since they give you instructions for what we needed to do next, it seems pretty important. For Cursed Water, and to be "in theme" you would think this voice would be bellowing out and filling out the whole room

There is a video at the beginning which tells you the do's and don'ts of the game, but it lasted about 40secs, and seemed pointless. It could have been written down on a sheet of paper instead.

The host seemed uninterested. More of a get-in, get-out, picture and go attitude. Didn't ask us anything, or converse with us after we finished.

I've played better rooms, and more immersive games, that this room, along with the hosting, was a quite a let down.

Great set, fun puzzles of a variety of kinds, and a little bit of choice to make with how you want to game to end - great fun.

I enjoyed Cursed Waters. At the start it felt like there was a lot going on but it all came together well and also gave me one of my most enjoyable escape room moments - ok it was short lived, but the joy it brought me for that short period of time will certainly stay with me.
