As someone who loves themed rooms, I personally didn't like the theme too much - it felt like a blank canvas with a series of puzzles within, which didn't resonate with me. However I enjoyed the logic and mental workout used in many of the puzzles, which were broadly more mental than physical.

Guardians is an unusual, single concept game. The backstory has you unlocking the mystical secrets of the 22 brightest stars in the sky to retrieve a magical elixir. This slightly abstract theme translates to a room decorated mainly in black with an array of locked cabinets, each labelled with a star name.

Each uses an identical three digit lock, and I had a nasty premonition of having to try each potential solution in each of two dozen different locks. Fortunately that's not required. Each sta...

In The Guardians of the Elixir, as I understand it the digital version is a direct copy of the real life escape room (which I have not played!). This means if you have played it before you won’t be able to play this one – but the inverse is also true! If you’ve been eyeing up playing the escape room version but can’t travel / don’t have the money / literally any other reason, this is almost the same experience!
