Six years ago (how time flies) we played the rooms at Incarcerated, and wrote some fairly critical reviews of them, which the owner at the time was good enough to not hold against us. So I was very pleased to find that the current two games were a big step up in pretty much all respects.
The introduction to Conspiracy began with a careful clarification that it was built in 2018, and the story of a plot to eliminate part of the world’s population via a deadly pandemic predated the actual pandemic of a couple years later. The details of the story perhaps don’t hold up to close scrutiny, but it provides the game’s theming and a fun start.
Conspiracy set a good mood right away, and was consistently a lot of fun throughout. That was because the puzzles were well designed and logical; it’s also a room that involves plenty of movement, physical tasks and some entertaining moments.
In the later stages the decor is on the simple side (though in keeping with the theme), but we were too busy enjoying blasting through the puzzles to mind. Enthusiasts should have a good time playing this one (we did!); but it actually strikes me as a very good game with which to introduce someone to escape rooms: it’s logical and flows well, and should give a good succession of eureka moments to get them hooked on.
