One of the worst rooms Iâve played in my life. Ridiculously repetitive, and dull puzzles (do they have one piece of tech?). The same puzzle was repeated 6 times in one room. Then again in the next! Illogical and rather meaningless story, made substantially more painful by a 2 hour runtime and a substantial overhyping of the experience as
âmore than an escape roomâ, while this would be unplayable even if it was âjustâ an escape room. First escape room Iâve ever walked out of (in the final room) before finishing.
Donât waste your money. The other escape rooms at the Great Escape Sheffield are great fun. Play those.

We played this in Edinburgh as it appeared as part of the Fringe Festival. We expected very little, given that it is a temporary attraction, but were really pleasantly surprised, and ended up having a great almost-hour of frantic fun! When we did this, it was set outdoors and was basically a game in a big box, with other elements being added in by âAgent Nathanâ (who was a brilliant host!), or found in and around the area using clues discovered as we went along. Had I been told beforehand how low-tech it would be I might have given it a miss but Iâm so glad I didnât as we were thoroughly immersed and engaged for a almost the full hour! There were puzzles of all types and although most of them ended in a code to help towards disarming the EMP, everything still felt very varied. Obviously there was none of the beautiful set-dressing and theming of a static indoor escape room, but the way the outdoor space was used was pretty neat and it was great to be solving clues outside in the sunshine and amongst the curious public! It was also nice to be teamed up with another member of the public too, who proved to be a really strong puzzler and really helped us pull off this tough set of tasks with just enough time to spare! I appreciate this might not be to everyoneâs taste though, but I feel like this mightâve been done this way only for the Fringe? Anyway, if youâre in Edinburgh before 28th August, I do recommend giving this a try! Very entertaining.

Played this game as one of the taster sessions.It was one of the most original, exciting and memorable escape games I've ever played. Writing this review in 2022, but I can still remember the story, and how the game panned out and have highly recommended it to many, many others. Not for the feint-hearted (including myself), but honestly, having set zero expectations helped, as there was huge sense of euphoria when we managed to escape, like no other time I have since experienced in escape games. I've since heard that the game has changed since it moved from its original location in Holborn so would love to try it out again

As with all Eacape Plan games the theming is superb (and this one is a little jollier than their other games)- all of the puzzles made sense and were in keeping with the theme. A fair few really lovely handmade tactile elements/ puzzles / boxes that elevate the game to be extremely impressive.

We've come to expect some pretty standard Escape Hunt tropes - lack of padlocks, for one - and this game was no different in lots of ways. What was a little different about this room, however, was one particular special effect that was genuinely impressive and atmospheric. The room itself is good fun and there were a couple of puzzles we really enjoyed. There are really clear signifiers when you've successfully completed a puzzle, which is needed. Nothing wrong with this room at all and we enjoyed it but it's not particularly special. Saying that, our host was absolutely delightful and we felt incredibly welcome.
