steve42 has played 1 escape game
In a word: excellent.
I played Spellbound with three of my adult children. It was a great experience from start to end. We've played a few rooms together but this was the best so far and, I think, will be very hard for other rooms to beat. We just managed to escape in time. The host managed the game perfectly with enough little nudges to keep us on track.
Spellbound is a little more expensive than others we'd played but with 90 mins instead of 60 and a remarkable experience throughout, it was well worth the extra. The build quality is superb, with lots of attention to detail. The challenges are varied in type and complexity, including dexterity and mental challenges. Some of the puzzles made my brain hurt. Good job the youngsters were there to solve the difficult stuff! The last couple of minutes trying to beat the clock were intense.
Technology is used well to help create an immersive experience, with light, sound and movement. I particularly liked one neat bit of tech wizardry but sadly I can't tell you what it is without giving a spoiler.
The host went the extra mile and happily explained their background and journey, and the challenges of designing and building the whole set up themselves. Very interesting. Well done guys. Very impressive.
The game is non-linear so we were all busy, often working in pairs. There is so much to do we needed to split up the tasks to do everything in time. As a result we didn't all experience every part of the room. Afterwards we had dinner nearby and spent some time sharing what we had each experienced. Discussion afterwards is an important part of an escape room experience.
A very nice team photo was emailed to us the same day.
We had a great time and hope to do another Escape House game when it is ready.
Well done guys, you've create a great room. Very impressive.
