I have now played all the games (minus the VR ones) at this venue. I enjoyed it but it's certainly not as good as their newer games (Alien Encounter and Pharoah's mystery.)
Unfortunately, our games host wasn't the most enthusiastic or chatty, which is a problem we have had at the venue previously. Although this didn't hinder our game performance it also didn't really add to the experience as a whole.
The game itself was fine; your standard prison type theme/story. It's a little unique in the beginning as the team is split into 2 separate cells. Communication is key to solving this area and getting out of the cells quickly so you can maximise your time working together to solve the rest of the puzzles and complete the game. There are a combination of puzzle types in this room, but nothing more hightech. Think your classics - keys, combinations and electromagnet releases. There were a couple of puzzles that weren't solved entirely through logic - one instance where I solved an anagram purely by guessing the word (not sure if this is how it's supposed to be done or not) as well as some occasions where trial and error work to get correct combinations. This may not be noticed by those who havent played many games but when youre quite experience its a little annoying not knowing why something is the way it is. I wouldn't say it was a bad game in any terms and I'm glad we played it. I believe it was a better game than the vault, however I would recommend Pharoah's Mystery and Alien Encounter if you wanted a more exciting or challenging game at this venue.
The answer to one of the puzzles had been written on a wipe-clean sheet provided, but the host had failed to wipe it off before our turn in the room, so we already had the answer to that puzzle - pretty annoying.
Another puzzle was completely broken and ended up taking a large part (involving a UV light) out of the room - more annoying.
The host, Ben, was a bit of a knob - even more annoying.
We've done one of their other rooms and it was alright. Shame, because after doing this one I couldn't recommend it and won't be going back.
Standard enough prison break scenario but some pretty unique puzzles along the way. GM was awesome, very in character. We've now played all 3 rooms here so look forward to their new one soon
Unique experience thatβs unmissable. Great props and amazing set, game masters were amazing and the puzzles were great!
I liked the set design and atmosphere and the starting setup is fairly novel. However, we had to have quite a few hints in this room because for a lot of the puzzles it's not obvious why you would do the things you're supposed to do. I've played a lot of escape rooms and when you get a hint it's normally an "oh yeah" moment, but this was more of a "why would I have even tried that?". Even afterwards the gamemaster didn't seem to be able to explain to us why we should've realised what we were supposed to do for the final puzzle. It's a shame because it's obvious that a lot of effort has gone into building the room, but it's let down by the nonsensical puzzles.
Brilliant, just brilliant. So clever and a must play.
We loved this room so much!
It's your standard prison break story but the way it is built (two jail cells, and the setting is so good it was in the film Cruella!) and the way the puzzles are done are really clever. Your team is split into two separate cells and you have to work together to solve puzzles, even though you can't see each other for a large chunk of the game. Everything flowed well and was fun AND logical.
It really made us think, sometimes stretch, even a little bit of climbing. The GM was mega enthusiastic and the owner was really chatty too, telling us about the next room that is due to be finished August 21 (or possibly September).
It's in an unassuming basement in the centre of Bracknell, so it's easy to get to.
I don't want to give too much away.
We're looking forward to going to back to play Secret of the Vault and the new Pharoah's Mystery when it opens.

The experience really puts you in the centre of the action, with the group split apart into two separate cells right from the start. This works perfectly with the storyline of having to break out before the guards return. It further adds to the story learning about the other inmates and utilising them to escape. The themeing in the escape room is of a decent quality, and the fact itβs located on the ground floor / basement adds to the authentic feel.
