Imagine yourself on the high seas during the golden age of piracy. Two days ago your crew boarded a ship with disastrous consequences. Most of your fellow buccaneers were slain in the battle. A lucky handful, yourself included, were captured and thrown into the brig to await the mercy of the shipβs captain.
Suddenly, you hear a crash from above and a lurch. You deduce from the cries of the crew that the ship is taking on water and will sink within the hour.

Firstly we played The Curse of Captain Kraken on an evening when they wouldnβt normally be open - they opened specifically for us, which is always great and appreciated. The game itself was pretty immersive with lots of set dressing, and as seasoned escapers the puzzles largely made sense. Lots of fairly unique concepts or unusual tech that we hadnβt seen before. The flip side was we managed to completely miss 3 locks by either luck or initiative (probably born from having done so many), though the GM did say itβs never happened before - us rather than the game, and she also let us do the bits we missed after to get the complete experience.
Despite this we both enjoyed ourselves, and came away talking about all the fun and unusual things weβd liked (sometimes you come away from rooms irritated about the puzzles or things that didnβt work, and this definitely wasnβt one of those). Recommended.
Really beautiful set with some great features and unique puzzles.
The theming was spot on and very atmospheric and the puzzles were original. Our host could have been more enthusiastic but she did say that she wasn't the usual host which is fair enough as they opened up the room especially for us on a day they'd usually be closed.
We've played around 15 escape rooms together now and although we're nowhere near experts, we do usually escape. But we didn't this time, it was surprisingly difficult. We were allowed extra time to finish though.
The pricing seemed very reasonable and we're hoping to return to play this venue's second room when it opens next month. I thought this room was very impressive, especially as it was the designer's first ever escape room. Highly recommended.
P.S. If you use the toilets don't forget to say hello to the three little pigs on the way.

For those who want to get together for some games. Try and keep them north of Oxford and south of Manchester but outliers are ok if we all want to do them!
