Imagine being abducted and locked in a dungeon. Do you wait it out and hope for the best or do you try to escape? This is a cross between the movies Hostel/Saw and the Crystal Maze. Can you solve the puzzles and find the keys to escape the rooms before your captors return?

bad puzzles💀extreme fear

So this review is a tale of two parts. The escape room itself was atrocious. The puzzles were very basic and uninteresting. Some of them even had no thematic relevance to the serial killer plot. I also found it very frustrating how they were all highlighted by massive plaques announcing that there was a puzzle here to be solved. It was also annoying how important the search elements were in this room. At the start you're chained up to the wall. Unfortunately, it's not guaranteed your key is within reach. So if you have a team mate who is unreliable at searching you could be chained up for quite some time. The host was inattentive, so I ended up chained to the wall for the majority of the hour. Once we finally escaped into the second room, we were met with a brick wall puzzle that can only be solved through luck or by continuously attempting it through brute force. Needless to say we didn't escape. Shockingly there was no finale, we were just led outside to do the Extreme element of the game. Now the extreme element was actually rather fun, you get chased around a paintball field with an army of chainsaw wielding serial killer terrorists (yes you read that right). It was very intense and in all honesty terrifying. However we didn't appreciate the fact that the chainsaw team seemed to cheat and funnel us together, despite our best efforts to stay apart. This meant we ended up loosing our lives within minutes due to a particularly unfair pincer movement from the chainsaw team as we were attempting to use our three keys to detonate the bomb.

The escape room element of Abducted is very poor. However the extreme element can be fun, if you're prepared for your experience to be cut short due to seemingly unfair tactics from the chainsaw team.

I was expecting Abducted to be an unusual escape room, and it was; but it was unusual in a rather different way to what I expected. Note that there are two versions, a normal 60 minute experience and an 'extreme' 90 minute experience, and naturally we played the extreme version. They run the normal game in the daytime, and that's much closer to a typical horror-themed escape room experience. The extreme version is played after dark, and extends the normal game with additional content that's very...
