The third game we played at Bedford Escape Rooms was potentially the hardest, in that there was a choice of two difficulty levels – though we accidentally ended up playing the easier option, I think by default. The difference seems to be the addition of a puzzle or two, and that one pivotal puzzle requires extras steps and so is more time consuming.
Like the other rooms here, Laboratory is decorated simply: in this case, IKEA furniture and science-related posters on the walls. Also like the other two, there’s a small surprise or two, in a theme-suitable way.
There’s again a fair amount of searching. Laboratory is definitely the most maths-focused of the three, though with a calculator provided to help with the sums. That of course matches the setting, and more generally playing this game successfully evoked a feeling of doing science – even though the most promising-looking props turned out to be used only as visual hints.
Reasons to pick this one over the other two at the venue: for a well lit and slightly academic style of puzzles; and for a somewhat higher challenge level, at least as long as you remember to request the harder version! 3 / 5
