Once upon a time there was an unsuccessful puppeteer. He traveled through the country but no matter how hard he tried, nobody loved his show and so he could only afford dry bread and water. Someday he met a talking puppet and persuaded it to follow him and occur in his show. Together they got fame and wealth but the puppet had something else in mind. In the night it stole all of the puppeteers money and disappeared. The puppet has never been seen again…
But the Puppeteer wouldn’t give up. He tried to build his own talking puppet but he couldn’t find a way to make it speak. Despair turned into madness as he made a new devilish plan. If his puppets couldn’t make the crowd love him, maybe humans dressed as puppets could! Following this plan he settled in Bremen to look for human puppets for his new big show. And you blundered into his trap. His show is about to start in one hour. Can you manage to free yourself from the puppeteer or will you stay forever his helpless marionettes?

The curious backstory for this game involves a puppeteer who finds a magical talking wooden puppet, who helps him make his fortune, but then one night runs off with all the money. To which the puppeteer's response is to make a replacement puppet... from human limbs. Specifically your limbs. Frankly it sounds like that wooden puppet made the right decision to run for the hills. In any case, your team will need to deal with being imprisoned in a faux-Victorian workshop decorated with a mixt...

A review of three of the games at Final Escape: Robot Paranoia, Prison Break and Steampunk Puppeteer. Three good games with Robot and Puppeteer having amazing set design and theatre while Prison Break had an older feel but stronger puzzles. Robot and Prison Break also had a fantastic sense of exploration.

The Puppeteer scores especially with atmosphere and story. The overall package is just right here and you'll gladly let yourself be carried away into another world. As with many story-driven rooms, the puzzles fall behind a bit.

The next Escape Room we targeted in Berlin was a super stylish room by the company “Final Escape”. The optics of their “Steampunk Puppeteer” room look impressive – but did the game match the design?
