Discord in the Diner!

I took a hungover first-timer to this one, so it was a treat to find out we’d start the challenge separated!

Story

A bitter human being has placed a bomb in the kitchen of Shirley’s, which must be diffused before the whole place is destroyed. The classic ‘Stop the bomb!’ story given a culinary twist.

Puzzles

So many puzzles! There was quite a bit of arithmetic involved, which makes sense and fitted in to the story and its setting. Admittedly, we were pushed through the final one to ensure our victory, but the awkward items involved were making life tricky, especially in those last few minutes.

Mise-en-scène

Amazing. I’ve just done my 55th room and the Die-ner still stands out so strongly above the rest. If I sat down at one of the 50s-style tables, I wouldn’t have been surprised if a waitress in a red and white striped uniform came to take my order, haha. The kitchen apparatus, till, tip jar, wall art and everything in between were all spot on.

Final Comments

I’d recommend taking more than two people, as our work really was cut out. It was an intense, fast-paced game and it’s up there with one of my all-time faves!
